Does anyone know what on earth 鰲　means? Not only does Jdict have no entry for its meaning, but I can't even input it via IME. I saw it in my Houshin Engi manga, and now I'm curious. Sushu? Anyone?

nelson's kanji dictionary says:　鰲 = ゴウ, a kind of fish. Also a variant of 鼇 which means giant turtle or terrapin.

I guess that would make sense, given that the reading JWPCE gave me was "おおがめ" Thank you both!

yupyup. giant fish or giant turtle. ... and now the same kanji, so usually means giant turtle. One of those that holds up the floating fairy island in the northeast seas. Ao from Strings of Fate...
