Sounds pretty legit and similar here in Wakayama.

That foreigner death glare at other foreigners. I don't know about Beijing, but here, they have this attitude like they want to be the only foreigner ever here and so its like they hate not being this special snowflake, and it gets worse the more inaka the area is where you run into them.
